Experience

Roopa's career began in human resource development in India, collaborating with multinational firms to improve employee performance and procurement. In 2012, she joined Sultan Qaboos University, engaging in transdisciplinary research and clinical work for various mental health issues like depression, anxiety, personality disorders, developmental disorders and more. Her expertise includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transcultural psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Systematic Desensitisation, Exposure Response Prevention Behavior Therapy (for OCD), and other therapeutic approaches. Roopa's specialisations range from industrial psychology to neuropsychology, and she's a member of WHO's global clinical practice network. She contributed to revising behavioural and mental disorder classifications in ICD-11, organised mental health awareness events and conferences, and co-authored papers. Her goal is to advance mental health services in Oman through psychotherapy and assessments.
